WAYKAN, GUATEMALA


Guatemala’s Huehuetenango region is famous for producing some of the countries most vibrant and delicious coffees. A history of meticulous attention to farming and cupping by the smallholders of the area, captures the incredible potential in each crop.

We are thrilled to welcome back Waykan to our Foundation genre with this Typica, Caturra, Bourbon, Catuai and Paches fully washed lot, providing a sweet and moreish cup — expect notes of baked apple, orange and caramel.


LONG (Lungo)

IBRAHIM HUSSEIN, ETHIOPIA


Flourishing under the natural forest canopy of this specific micro-region, the 74110 and 74165 variety fully washed lot from the farm of Ibrahim Hussein was the perfect choice for our long Foundation capsules.

A hub for support and crop education for the area, over 300 small farms in the Limu Kossa district of Ethiopia have selected cherries processed and dried at Ibrahim’s central farm.

In the cup expect notes of bergamot, honey and almond.


 

SHORT (espresso)

GAKENKE, BURUNDI


The Gakenke washing station in Burundi’s Kayanza district runs on the idea that a coffee’s quality starts with the people producing it. Outreach and support programmes have totally transformed the lives of small-holders supplying cherries to the station — producing some truly outstanding coffee in the process.

With wonderful deep notes in the cup and berry-like acidity upfront, this Red Bourbon lot works beautifully in our short capsules. Expect notes of blackcurrant, cocoa and walnut.

BEKELE LAGEY, ETHIOPIA


Hailing from the misty valleys of the Yirgacheffe region in South Western Ethiopia, the Bekele Lagey lot from the Adado co-operative is a stunning example of exquisite, clean natural processing. The perfect choice for our Discovery genre, this Heirloom variety lot’s sweet fruity notes are on proud display in the cup.

Expect an abundantly juicy black coffee – we’re tasting strawberry, orange and vanilla

MAPUTO HONEY SIDRA, ECUADOR


We are extremely excited to return to the prize-winning Finca Maputo in Ecuador for our new Rare capsule offering – the incredible quality of this honey processed Sidra truly shines in the cup, and the chance to showcase it for a second season was something we simply couldn’t turn down.

Fruity, tangy and sweet, expect notes of IPA and blueberry with a long white-sugar finish.

DEMISSIE EDEMA NATURAL, ETHIOPIA


Guji in Western Ethiopia is famous for producing stunning, award-winning coffees. This natural microlot from Demissie Edema is a result of his tireless dedication to elevating his farm’s potential, proudly continuing the region’s history of excellence. This Heirloom lot was submitted to the Ethiopian Cup — an auction celebrating the very best of the country’s specialty coffees — and established the Edema farm as a glowing beacon of quality in the region.

We are thrilled to present this lot in our latest Rare long capsule — expect a fruity, almost tea-like cup, with notes of plum, peach and honeysuckle.

EL CARMEN DECAF


El Carmen in the Huila region of Colombia is a testament to the power of community — a new hub for the region has created higher income for the farmers, with investment in quality assessment, new drying bed facilities, and stabilised prices.

Fully washed, with lot has undergone “sugar cane” decaffeination — utilising a by-product of cane fermentation with water from the Navado el Ruis. Beans are submerged and steamed to remove 97% of the caffeine.

In the cup expect notes of cranberry, cashew and cocoa.

VIANI SWISS WATER DECAF


Viani is a collection of small lots grown in the Cundinamarca Department of central Colombia. The high altitude of the region connects directly to the high quality of the coffees produced there. This fully-washed decaf lot has undergone the Swiss Water Process — a 100% chemical-free decaffeination method using little more than pure water. It was the perfect coffee to grace our run of decaf capsules.

Viani Decaf is sweet and moreish — with notes of kiwi, raisin and fudge.
