A great unique coffee from Myanmar (Birma).

This exquisite coffee is the result of a project initiated by Winrock International, an NGO.

The goal of this project was to eradicate and minimize the opiate production in this region by teaching local farmers, who until recently were fully dependent of the production of poppy, how to produce specialty coffee.

Due to the great work and skillful approach of the people involved in the project, like Sara Morrocchi, the communities in the regions surrounding the township of Hopong now produce high graded specialty coffee.

I spoke to Sara about her work as an origin consultant and went in depth about this specific coffee from Myanmar in “The Work That Matters” Podcast. We went in quite far talking about the coffee price crisis, Certification programs, modern coffee farmer options and of course what moves her to do what she does.
